AN ARTIST IN HIM (On Satyajit Ray)

The documentary of Satyajit Ray is a film of vivid cinematography and screen play displaying balanced cine sense. The frame composition is remarkable with the use of suitable graphics. Satyajit Ray, the Oscar award winner and legendary cine personality of multiple dimensions is the main subject of this documentary presented in an unusual way. The frame composition of this art film is some thing that should be seen by art-movie lovers.

 

MURAL PAINTINGS OF ORISSA

Mural Paintings of Orissa is a film covering different aspects of traditional art of Orissa with emphasis on mural painting in Odisi style. The movie is informative and is a certain tourism boost. It is not a research work of pedantic bulk but a presentation of popular appeal.

Dreams of Rabindranath is a cine-documentary that presents the subject in a lucid manner. The life of the poet is depicted in short with the development of his aspirations. The movie also traces the growth and development of the intellectual and academic center at Shantiniketan.
Tagores’ different approach toward "teaching" has been emphasized in this movie. This movie also presents a short record of the development of Vishwabharati University from the early stages.
The movie also informs about some of the noted personalities from India and abroad who joined Rabindranath in his work of setting up his dream institution and inspired him. This movie also shows short dance drama clips from Tagore’s compositions

 

KAALER PUTUL

Kaaler Putul is a psychological drama of remarkable intensity and depth. The film has commendable cine-composition and the angle of the frame selection is often subtle and suggestive with suitable background music. The story line unfolds in a nostalgic way with the bitter sweet memories of a man servant who had been working in a zamindar family. The film presents love, sex and the clash of values as the drama unfolds in two different time frames. The dramatic impact here in a realistic manner compliments the cine team and creates an interest in the film beyond the barrier of language and Culture.

 

BARNAMOY JOHAR ( On Johar Dasgupta)

Barnamoy Johar focouses on Johar Dasgupta, the president of Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. Johar, an artist filled with the joy of life in art has been portrayed in this film that may be termed a mini biographical sketch. This biographical movie with a colourful twist shows the enjoyable art world of the artist who often loves teaching young talents. The free flowing movie gives a glimpse of the passionate art world of Bengal that passes on the legacy of joy from generation to generation.

 

DHUN (Language- Punjabi)

Singers - Avhay Sharma and Anshuman Sharma

Dhun is a short musical movie in Punjabi. This movie was shot in tehsil Dhar kalan of district Pathankot. Two singers, Abhay Sharma and Anshuman Sharma present the soulful song accompanied by the strumming of the guitar. Nature plays an important part in this movie in which the shifting light of the late afternoon melts in to the night with fire side scenes. 

 

MERA DUNERA

Mera Dunera is a short cine presentation from Dunera on Pathankot to Dalhousie road. Dunera is a large village at the junction of roads that connect the area to Nurpur, Dalhousie and Pathankot. The village situated in sylvan environment has a great tourism potential and one who views this movie realizes this fact. A glimpse of Dunera bazar is presented too. This is the first movie made from Dunera by some one who lives there.

 

In his Paper World

In his paper world is a unique documentary on "paper art" of Prabal Pramanik, the Ustad or master of Indian paper cutting art. Not only paper cutting but paper folding, paper assemblage and paper lace cutting has been recorded in this movie. Each form of art that uses paper as medium is accompanied with a beautiful gallery of art work.

"Bhamlada" is the first recorded documentary ever made on the beautiful hills of Dhar block of Punjab. The documentary was made to portray the changing lifestyle of the people this region.
The movie features agriculture, places of worship, the villages at work, local sport, social gatherings and the general way of life in this area.
This movie has been greatly appreciated by local people as well as by outsiders.
"The people of Shivaliks, an assessment of life in sub-mountainous area of Dhar block in Punjab, India", is a presentation of the views of people from many walks society from this area in their own words. The needs of a rapidly changing society, in this hill region have been recorded here. Villagers have expressed their concerns about several local problems and their aspirations. This movie allows the viewer an inside view of life in this part of India.
This attempt to give the common man at grass roots level a direct personalized individual exposure to mass media is an important step towards the development of this area.
This movie allows the villagers in remote rural areas a sense of self identity through audiovisual effects of information technology. This movie definitely helps to create a general social consciousness in this area.

In addition to these films Ten (10) animation movies will be screened in this Winter Film Festival 2015.
